Even Further Job Losses Due to the Commercialisation of the Dockyard

The closure and commercialisation of the dockyard dominated political and economic debate in Gibraltar. A project study published by Messrs Appledore worried Mr Bossano as, although Appledore promised to employ 552 employees originally, the report that was published showed a figure of just 250 workers which meant further job losses.

Notwithstanding his concerns for job losses, Mr Bossano was also concerned over the logistics of transferring the dockyard to Appledore and the impact that would have on the workers employed there.
