Following their huge success at the World Games in Berlin, Germany, Her Worship the Mayor, Ms Carmen Gomez GMD hosted a reception for the Gibraltar Special Olympics Team at the Mayor’s Parlour, City Hall, on Thursday 20th July 2023.
In the presence of the Minister for Equality, The Hon Samantha Sacramento MP and Special Olympics National Director Ms Annie Risso MBE, the athletes and their coaches were congratulated by Her Worship for their hard work and fantastic results.
Her Worship said: “Not only is this a personal achievement for each and every one of you, whatever your place in your respective sport, with medals and personal bests, but you have placed Gibraltar on the map. This reception in your honour is a special thank you from me and all the people of Gibraltar. Well done!’ You are all winners, just your participation in the Games makes you a winner. May this success of the Berlin World Games motivate you and spur you on to greater successes, not just in sport but in every aspect of your life.”
Following Her Worship’s speech all present enjoyed drinks and canapes to conclude a wonderful evening.
