Sunday 16th October marked World Restart a Heart Day. The purpose of the day is to increase public awareness of CPR and how to deal with someone suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest so as to increase their chances of surviving. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death worldwide.
The Chief Minister, The Hon Fabian Picardo KC MP said ‘It’s important that we learn how to use a defibrillator, that we learn how best to assist a loved one or anyone we may come across who is having a heart attack. If you want to learn more, get in touch with the GHA or the Gibraltar Cardiac Association.
Let’s do what we can to learn about CPR, to learn about how to use a defibrillator and let’s be the best that we can at helping someone who is having a heart attack at any time. We could save a life.’
